It’s about time I started eating a bunch of seeds every single day.
My period and I have had a terrible relationship for about... the whole entire time. From the beginning, when I turned to my friend Maya in gym class and told her there was unusually colored girl slime in my underwear. To this very day, I write to you, dear reader, with a plastic disc shoved inside of me due to the recent news that tampons are actually poisonous.
Every part of menstruation feels evil. Your hormones are crazy. Your body is attacking you. You have to worry about “24 times as much lead as the limit for bottled water” in your period products.
Because of the body-attacking-me-situation I’ve looked into seed cycling. It’s supposed to balance your hormones and regulate your cycle. There’s not a lot of research because science hates women, but it has roots in Chinese Medicine and there’s a lot of positive feedback online from people who have tried it. I totally understand if you are skeptical that it won’t work. But even if it doesn’t work perfectly, these seeds are high in a bunch of good vitamins, so there’s really no downside to it. Either it works and that’s awesome or it doesn’t and I eat 100 seeds.
Flax seeds: omega-3, vitamin B, magnesium, zinc
Sesame seeds: vitamin E, vitamin B6, iron, zinc, calcium
Sunflower seeds: vitamin E, selenium
Pumpkin seeds: antioxidants, iron, zinc, magnesium

These are the seeds I’m going to buy.
These are the period products I use.
You can wear them for up to 12 hours and they self empty when you pee! They take a little bit of getting used to, but no worse than learning to put a tampon in. And I don’t know the science behind it, but my cramps are so much better when I wear the disc vs a tampon.
They’re perfect for the beginning or end of your period when you don’t want to shove anything inside of you just for a little bit of blood. Also, they’re super comfy to sleep in. It’s like safe free bleeding.
Happy bleeding!
